People first, product second.

Should this post be on a personal, or professional blog? Social networking does blur the line. Facebook was created to help friends stay in touch and a good friend is someone you may speak with, frankly. If we use our social network to highlight products or services we wish to promote or just ones we like, we should expect a certain degree of sincere response and criticism. Facebook is for people first and products second. Of course ad placement or sponsorship is fair play and people like to keep in touch with brands that they identify with.

Companies should see Facebook as the best feedback they can get, they should be aware that it’s a very personal space that they enter. Both people and companies need to remember it’s a place for genuine friendship and two-way communication. Good friends talk to each other and sometimes, it hurts. Just be gentle.
