I began bike tours around Amsterdam and its countryside three years ago for tour companies but soon realised its limitations. I wanted to offer a more tailored, personal social experience with a higher degree of professionalism.

About Me
A Graphic Designer by trade, I work self-employed. Creating amazing travel experiences for visitors to Amsterdam gets me away from the Mac and engaging with ‘real’ people, not just emails. I’m a keen photographer, social historian and a lucky bike freak who still does graphic design for Shimano!

“I had already participated in bike tours for work before but never with a guide as FANTASTIC as Pearse “the irish”. He was absolutely delightful, he shared his great knowledge with irony and adding enjoyable tales. My nieces and I appreciated the passion he is able to transmit, I would recommend him over any other guide! Thank you Pearse!” Catherine – United Kingdom – 14 April 2023
About the Dutch
I’m an Irishman here 28 years but still learning the ways of the Dutch even though I married one. So I try to provide an insight into Dutch thinking and social behaviour, and highlight its connections to profound levels of water management, their history and the dilemma’s they currently face today.

“Who would‘ve guessed”
The usual reaction from customers who first see the stunning Dutch countryside just 5km from Amsterdam city, beautiful old villages, green pastures, tiny bridges, cosy cafe’s, dairy farms – all on great cycles paths. It gives me constant joy to guide cyclists through this amazing landscape I love so well.

Our River Ride…
Amstel – Oude Kerk – Abcoude – Baambrugge
Cycling south along Amsterdam’s many canals we quickly reach farms and meadows. Our first stop is Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, a pretty village famous for its churches and Portuguese Graveyard. The Baker’s cafe in the village is a must.
Abcoude and Baambrugge will impress even more, fitting in the compulsory windmill photos we return back to Amsterdam on an alternative route keeping things scenic all the way home.
Our Amstel Riverside Ride is unique, devised to delight and surprise with every turn. No other tour company offers this gem of a ride, we keep you smiling all the way.

Important Info:
Five hour duration – 40km, clients need to be fit!
Time: 11am-4pm
We have a cafe break and some stops to talk Dutch water management / history. Your bike will be a three speed Dutch style ‘Oma’ Fiets, saddle height adjustable. Helmets are available. You should bring water and dress accordingly, that usually means, warmer and waterproof!
Meeting Point
We meet at Central Station or Amstel Station to collect and fit our bikes, exact details to be provided.

“Our guide Pearse gave a full informative bike tour through the countryside. We passed old houses and learnt a lot about the waterways. We stopped at a windmill and Pearse kindly took a photo for us as a couple or a family. Pearse was very friendly and took time to chat to individuals whilst on a break. I would strongly recommend this trip as it takes you away from the crowded streets of Amsterdam.”
